Brody attending the meeting Walker had so casually mentioned turned into a three ring circus. More than one person involved was convinced the whole thing was a wild goose chase, including Carrie occasionally. If she hadn't seen Walker as up close and personal as she had when they were first rescued, she could have been convinced. Maybe sending Brody to a regular meeting for returning vets who were also Muslim was just a kind of fuck you from a man who felt he'd been betrayed by a brother soldier. Or it could be something much more sinister. The problem was, no one could really figure out what that sinister was supposed to be. Carrie continued to maintain that Brody had no idea what was going on.

The questions Brody faced right after the meeting ranged from if he knew any of the people there already to how was he planning to overthrow the US government. When the questions headed that way a majority of the time, Carrie called foul and got Brody out of there. With full understanding of the irony involved, they had decided that the cover that would work best with his family was that he was working with other vets on integrating back into the world. Carrie would have felt a lot worse about that if it was just being used to cover up them fucking around. She still felt pretty shitty about it given how much stress it was putting on him.

They took their own cars back to her place. She got there before him and immediately opened a fresh bottle of wine, leaving a full glass on the counter for him, then she went upstairs to change into something decidedly less official looking.

He smirked. "Then maybe we should go back inside." He gave her another kiss, then pulled away and stood. He held his hand out to her, to help her up.

She let him help her to her feet, bringing the blanket along with her when she stood. She made him help her fold it, but she was happy to carry it for the walk back. It would have been obvious to anyone who saw her how happy she was. She was happier than she remembered being in a long time.

He held her hand the entire way back to the cabin and the moment they were through the door, he started kissing her again. They could start the fire and have a drink in a few moments.

The folded blanket hit the floor with at thwap and was promptly forgotten in favor of kissing him deeply. She went up on her toes so she could reach more easily. If she also started pulling at his clothes, that was pure coincidence.

He started walking her back toward the couch, letting her pull at his clothes while he got them situation. He sat down heavily, pulling her with him and getting her in his lap. That was going to make pants harder, but that didn't matter, since he needed some recovery time.

Pants could wait. She wanted at least his shirt off and, after a minute, her own. Once she had skin on skin, she settled against him happily. Every touch was being banked against when they wouldn't be together like this, but she didn't feel at all melancholy about it. She felt joyous, content and safe, the way she always felt with him when she let herself.

He smiled once they were skin to skin, his arms tightening further around her. He took his time breaking the kiss, then he cupped her cheeks and really looked at her. "God, you're beautiful."

Already flushed from the kisses, Carrie darkened even more with pleasure at the compliment. "Yeah? I usually get cute or intense." She nuzzled at his cheek. "I'll take beautiful, though." She kissed up to his ear. "I like beautiful."

He leaned into the kisses with a soft laugh. "You are intense, too. But that's okay with me."

She kept nuzzling at him, nipping occasionally. "Glad to hear it. Tends to get old for some people." Like everyone she'd ever dated. "Best to keep me busy."

He gave a low rumble. "And how does one do that?"

She laughed softly. "You've got one way down pretty well." Given they could barely stay dressed around each other. "And I work a lot." She nipped his jaw. "And I work a lot..."

"Guess it's good someone is working. Someone should light the fire." He caught her in a new kiss, slowing them down a little bit.

She groaned softly as she looked over her shoulder at the fire. At least it was all set up. Pulling away from him, she sighed again with deep resignation. "Okay. I'll light it. But you have to open up the bed and get it made. I'm ready to lie down with you."

Now that both of them were moving, Brody was cold. Still, he managed to get the couch converted and made up, and his clothes off. He slipped under the covers to wait for her.

Carrie stripped off her own clothes while the fire crackled to life, the glow showing off her figure for him. She climbed up over the bed to him once he was under the covers, kissing him hard before sliding in beside him. The moment she was under the blanket, she wrapped herself around him. "Hmmmm, perfection."

He whistled softly as she stripped, then wrapped her up in his arms once she was under the blanket with him. "You feel good." He kissed her hair, then worked his way back to her lips to start up their make out session again.

She pulled lightly at his hair with one hand while the other one worked down so she could lightly pinch his ass. Little Carrie bites like the bugs they'd come inside to avoid. Her lips brushed softly over his and she whimpered each time she pinched him.

He groaned at each pinch, arching into her and kissing her a little harder in response, until he had to break away. "Christ, woman." Which was not a complaint, at all. just a comment, one followed up by enough kiss.

She pulled back a little, knowing she could overwhelm her partners. It was a side effect of how her brain worked. Not that she stopped kissing or touching him, but the pinching slowed to nothing. The truth was, she was more caught up in him than she'd been in anyone in a long time. "Sorry." She didn't want to scare him. "Told you I love touching you."

He nuzzled her cheek a moment, then pinched her ass. Which was, of course, just the set up for the groping that followed. After a few moments, he whispered in her ear. "You didn't have to stop, baby."

His pinch sent her harder against him with a shudder of pleasure. The whispering had pretty much the same effect. "Don't want to wear you out or anything." She ducked her head so she could nip at his neck, careful not to leave marks on his fair skin. "Not in any kind of hurry."

He gave her his neck with a low groan. "Still have all night?"

"To start, yes." And then hopefully wake up sex and maybe late afternoon nap sex and bedtime sex and... She shifted so she could get to his neck better. He made great noises when she did that. She used her teeth to scrape his skin lightly, then flicked her tongue over the same spots.

He whimpered at the hot and cold of her teeth and tongue, his arms tightening around her. She was driving him to complete, wordless distraction and whimpering was going to be all she got very soon.
