Briefings with Saul were getting more and more tense. Carrie could feel the strain on all of them as a real, palpable thing. Beside her, no one had ever had much faith in Brody, which was largely her fault. How could she explain her change of heart without explaining it was exactly that. What was harder was not telling him about how bad it was. Every time she was vague it was a physical pain.

The final straw was a heated conversation about what they would do if he were found out, revealed to be on a mission. They had escape plans, but it was clear very few people in that room gave a damn if they worked. Or if they even existed. She'd been through hell for the man they were dismissing like so much dross and all because... She wasn't that sure why because at this point. It was about Saul, really, and she knew that. That's why when he made a passing comment that made it sound damn like he'd made his decision and Brody didn't figure into it at all, she felt her stomach lurch so badly she almost had to leave the room.

She didn't go to him that night, that would be stupid. She waited a day, all of which was spent wondering when she would throw up. She got there late, just before dark, and sat back to watch the men finish up before meal break. He looked good. Better than when she saw him last, even.

She laughed softly. "All kinds of places to kiss." She ran a hand along his thigh to make the point. Then he was kissing her properly and she shifted so she was firmly against him. Her arms went around his neck so she could hold him close. When she pulled back, she grinned at him. "I like kissing you."

"I like kissing you, too." He nuzzled at her, then went back in to kiss her again. "I love kissing you."

Hearing him say that sent a thrill through her. She shivered against him and nodded slowly. "I'm going to insist you kiss me a lot. At least once an hour."

He laughed, shaking his head. "How am I going to do that while we are sleeping, or working?"

She shrugged. "You're a clever boy. You'll figure something out." She kissed him lightly. "I'll give you a pass for work, but not sleep. I'm right there after all."

He growled his amusement and shifted so she was stuck under him. Then he ground his hips against her and started kissing her neck. "You'll never get any sleep that way."

She laughed brightly. "Not if you're squishing me, no." She shook her head, then shifted so she could get one leg around his hips. She paused for a moment when she realized that it wasn't going to be that long before they couldn't lay that way. "I will, too. You'd be amazed what I can sleep through." She'd slept in war zones, just like he had. Not to mention sleeping through his snoring.

He smirked. "You'd be amazed my tactics to wake someone up..."

She laughed softly right up until she thought about what he might try. Then she groaned deeply. He was probably right, which wasn't fair at all. She shuddered a little, not unhappily. "We'll have to test that at some point."

He laughed. "Yes, we will." He gave her another rough kiss, then pulled back. Better not start something the pizza guy would not let them finish.

She started to chase him, then remembered about the food. Whimpering, she tucked close to him. "We have to work on timing." She groaned loudly, wanting him to feel some of her displeasure about it all. "Wild sex first, then food, then sleep." She ticked them off on her fingers.

"You were hungry..." He nipped her fingertip, then pulled himself up off the bed. If he stayed there, clothes would come off. And the poor pizza guy would be in for a shock.

She grumbled again, but stayed put. If she went after him, clothes were going to come off. And she was hungry. Her eyes closed and she thought more about what they were doing. They were holding up pretty well, really. Once they were truly settled, it would be even better. That seemed so strange. She watched him move around the room with a small smile. "This is going to be good, isn't it?"

He paused and turned to look at her, smiling. "The pizza? I have no idea. We're in Idaho."

She laughed as she considered throwing a pillow at him. "I've gotten good pizza in the Middle East. I think we'll manage here." Of course, that pizza had goat cheese on it, but that wasn't the point.

"The Middle East is closer to Italy than Idaho is." He came over and kissed her quickly. The knock at the door prevented anything more.

The delivery guy probably thought she was insane, given how loudly she was laughing. She actually pulled a pillow over her head. The guy was polite about it, though, not staring or saying anything. When she heard the door close, she got herself pulled together because she really was hungry.

Brody rolled his eyes as he paid, then closed the door. He opened up the box and inhaled deeply. "Smells good."

She made grabby hands motions at the box. "Don't hog the fragrance. Bring that over here. I'm starving." She breathed in deeply. "Fuck that smells good. Really good."

He brought the box to the bed, then sat down next to her and offered it to her. "Eat."

She saluted him sharply, then dug in, folding two pieces together and eating them together. Making happy noises the whole time, she ate quickly. It was a shameless display, but the pizza was good and she was hungry. Only when she'd finished and reached for another slice did she speak. "Make me promise to eat right as soon as we have a kitchen."

He started to laugh around his own piece of pizza. "As soon as we have a kitchen, yes." Then he settled back to enjoy dinner.

She watched him as she chewed, thinking about him cooking. They'd had a nice time cooking together. "What's your favorite thing to cook?" They had so much to learn about each other.

He grinned. "Breakfast. I like cooking breakfast." He leaned over and kissed her cheek, then went back to his slice.

Given that she usually hit the ground running and didn't stop to eat until late afternoon, that would be marvelous and she groaned her appreciation around her pizza. Still chewing, she responded. "I tend to cook all day once a week. Cook and freeze things I forget I made."
