Briefings with Saul were getting more and more tense. Carrie could feel the strain on all of them as a real, palpable thing. Beside her, no one had ever had much faith in Brody, which was largely her fault. How could she explain her change of heart without explaining it was exactly that. What was harder was not telling him about how bad it was. Every time she was vague it was a physical pain.

The final straw was a heated conversation about what they would do if he were found out, revealed to be on a mission. They had escape plans, but it was clear very few people in that room gave a damn if they worked. Or if they even existed. She'd been through hell for the man they were dismissing like so much dross and all because... She wasn't that sure why because at this point. It was about Saul, really, and she knew that. That's why when he made a passing comment that made it sound damn like he'd made his decision and Brody didn't figure into it at all, she felt her stomach lurch so badly she almost had to leave the room.

She didn't go to him that night, that would be stupid. She waited a day, all of which was spent wondering when she would throw up. She got there late, just before dark, and sat back to watch the men finish up before meal break. He looked good. Better than when she saw him last, even.

The kiss made her tremble and she pressed harder against him. Being curled that way made her feel tiny and safe. She wondered if she'd ever get used to feeling that way with him. Would she take it for granted? She reached up and caressed his cheek. "Big bed, thick door."

He chuckled softly. "Why the thick door?"

She glanced over at him and found her breath. "So we don't wake anyone up."

"Planning on getting louder, baby?" It was a tease and a challenge. He ran his hand over her belly, tracing his fingers low.

She snorted loudly. "You know how I can get." Alone in the cabin she hadn't been at all shy about showing her pleasure. "You should know when you're doing good work."

"I do like the feedback." He nuzzled her shoulder and kissed the bite again. "All kinds of feedback."

She jerked against him again, whimpering. If he kept abusing that spot it was going to hurt. Of course, then she'd be reminded of how good she felt right now. "I'll be sure to be specific next time, then." She laughed. "Maybe draw diagrams."

"Better things for you to do with your hands then draw." He rubbed her belly again, then closed his eyes and sighed softly. "Like rubbing my head."

She shifted slowly so she didn't disturb him too much. When she settled, she gently rubbed his head, concentrating at his temples and the base of his spine where he carried stress. "Feels so different this way." She leaned in to kiss his head. "Kind of like it."

He touched her belly again, then chuckled. "Hair's growing back."

She couldn't quite ruffle his hair, but she could feel it against her palm as she rubbed him. "Starting to." She smiled softly, imagining it grown back out properly. "The first time I can really grab it, I'm probably going to hurt you."

That got a good, deep laugh from him. "I'll try to prepare myself." He kissed her shoulder as he settled into the feel of her hand on his head. "Of course, this is nice, too. Maybe I'll leave it like this." It was an unfair tease.

She frowned deeply. Even if they had to dye it, which she wasn't convinced was necessary, she wanted to be able to run her fingers through it. And longer would be more hidden for him that short. Or bald. "You'd do that?" She down right pouted. "But I'd run my fingers through it. A lot."

Of course he wouldn't do it, but teasing her was fun. Especially when she pouted like that. "I could be convinced to see things your way."

She ran her fingertips over his head, just like there was really enough hair there to ruffle. Then she did it again with a little more pressure. It felt even better than she expected and she moan softly. "I'll keep working at it. Reminding you why I'm right on this issue."

His moan joined hers and he shivered slightly. "You do that, baby."

She laughed softly. "We are never going to get out of bed. Never." She didn't sound remotely upset about that. She kept caressing him, just barely letting her nails drag over his skin. "We'll get a fridge. It'll be great."

"Get a dog, teach it to fetch food and drink and let itself out." His eyes fluttered shut and he moaned again, low in his chest. What she was doing felt wonderful.

She dissolved into giggles at that image, thrown from the moment somewhat. Not that she stopped petting him, she'd never do that. "Put in a doggy door." Not that they could really do that with the baby, but it was a funny image. "It'll be perfect."

He grinned at her giggles and snuggled in closer so she could reach more. "We'll get right on that."

She nodded firmly. Not that they could get the dog until they moved in, but the image was great. "Soon we'll be all settled in. Start a fire. Drink...juice." She sighed softly. "Just juice."

He wrapped his arms around her, nuzzling at her neck as she pet him. "Right. Juice."

She sighed again, moving closer. "Kid will owe me an apology, eventually." She looked up at him hopefully, as though he'd give her some reprieve.

The only reprieve he had for her was a soft kiss and a tap on the nose. "Now rest. So that call will come."

She grumbled all the while she got comfortable against him. Then she grumbled more that the call probably wouldn't come that soon. Then she sighed deeply and settled to sleep. It was all an act because halfway through all the grumbling she yawned hugely. "Sleep. Sleep is good."
