Briefings with Saul were getting more and more tense. Carrie could feel the strain on all of them as a real, palpable thing. Beside her, no one had ever had much faith in Brody, which was largely her fault. How could she explain her change of heart without explaining it was exactly that. What was harder was not telling him about how bad it was. Every time she was vague it was a physical pain.

The final straw was a heated conversation about what they would do if he were found out, revealed to be on a mission. They had escape plans, but it was clear very few people in that room gave a damn if they worked. Or if they even existed. She'd been through hell for the man they were dismissing like so much dross and all because... She wasn't that sure why because at this point. It was about Saul, really, and she knew that. That's why when he made a passing comment that made it sound damn like he'd made his decision and Brody didn't figure into it at all, she felt her stomach lurch so badly she almost had to leave the room.

She didn't go to him that night, that would be stupid. She waited a day, all of which was spent wondering when she would throw up. She got there late, just before dark, and sat back to watch the men finish up before meal break. He looked good. Better than when she saw him last, even.

His eyes fluttered closed and he started grunting with each thrust. She could do all the talking she wanted, he just needed to feel her.

She saw his expression change and grinned. The grunts were nice too, so long as they were part of those deep thrusts. "So strong. Getting stronger, I can tell." She bucked hard into him as a way of signalling just how she could tell. She grabbed at his ass, pulling him closer.

His growl deepened and he pulled her into a deep kiss, forcing her to focus. He was so very close, she had to be able to feel that.

She was completely focused. Focused enough to feel him hardening inside her in preparation. She shuddered hard, pressing into the kiss with a moan. Her leg tightened around him, pulling her harder against him. With a shudder, she realized how close she was. She'd fall when he did, she knew it.

He moaned his release against her lips as he exploded. His whole body tensed and he pressed her into the seat with a quick series of hard thrusts.

The way his body tensed was enough to send her over the edge. She dug her fingers into his ass, pulling him harder against her. Her body was on fire, tingling everywhere all the way down to her toes. "Holy fuck."

He chuckled as he kissed her, his body relaxing against her. They couldn't stay there long, but they still had a few minutes.

And they had a perfectly good bed back at the motel. One they could actually spread out on. Still, she stayed tucked against him, groaning happily. "You have to promise me regular car sex, even if we never leave the driveway."

He laughed against her neck and nodded. "Yes, ma'am." After nipping her neck, he pulled back to find his shirt. "At least once a week."

She laughed softly and nodded. "At least. Beautiful." She kissed his chest quickly before he covered up, then pulled at her own clothes. "Also, backyard sex. Nice big lounge chairs with thick cushions." She added that to her mental furniture list. Then she groaned. They had to fill a whole house, including baby things. She hoped to hell he liked shopping. "Still so much to do."

He climbed out of the back seat through the door, adjusting his pants as he stood. Then he winked at her before getting back in the driver's seat. "We'll do it. Don't worry."

She stayed in back, buckled in, but still sprawled somewhat. His wink got him a shake of her head. "Like asking the sun to stop shining." She could hear her father's voice and she sighed softly. "We will. Have to."

He shook his head as he got the car going. "I promise, it will all work out." He held his hand back for her, lacing his fingers with her as he pulled them back onto the highway.

She squeezed his hand, then held on loosely so he could take it back if he needed. Her eyes closed and she let herself drift off. She knew she'd want to sleep the moment they got back, but she kind of hoped to hold it off for a while. Not nice to leave him alone.

Of course, by the time they'd made it back to the motel, she was deeply asleep. She needed to have a serious discussion with her body.

He took his hand back as they got into town, so that he could navigate. When they got to the motel, he quietly got out and got their things from the car. Then he went to wake her.

She wasn't happy about waking up and her grumbling proved it. Still, she knew that the bed was inside. Climbing out of the car, she stopped long enough to kiss him lightly, then headed for the door. Leaving the door wide open for him, she ditched her shoes and her jeans and climbed straight into the bed. "Ugh."

He glanced at his watch, then laughed at her softly. "Take a nap, sweetheart. Then we'll plan our next steps."

She pouted broadly, because she wanted him close, but he clearly needed to be moving. She curled up under the blankets so she would sleep more deeply and let herself drift off. After a little while she started dreaming of their future, a small child with red hair running around in that backyard. It wasn't a bad dream, but it didn't exactly settle her.

He changed clothes and went for a run while she slept. She was right, he needed to be moving, all that time in the car had made him a little crazy. While he ran, he made a mental list of their more immediate needs.

She didn't sleep long, too aware that he'd left. She woke slowly, grumbling again, and immediately went to the bathroom to throw up. Every damn book told her that this should be over by now. She was going to complain, loudly, to the doctor. By the time he got back, she'd cleaned herself up and was sitting up against the headboard, ignoring the tv, making notes about what they needed for the house.

He stripped as he walked in the door, finally sitting down on the edge of the bed in just his skivvies. He laid back on her legs and looked up at her. "Whatcha doing?"

She reached down and rubbed his head like rubbing a Buddha's belly, smiling gently. "Lists so I don't forget anything. Living room, bedrooms, b-baby's room." She shook her head. "Still sounds so odd."

"What do you have so far?" He pressed into her hand, then rolled to look at her.

She just gave him the list, not wanting to talk about the one room for a while. For the living room she had the basics, a big couch, big coffee table, things scaled to him, not her. They needed a big bed, dressers, a table and chairs. The list seemed never ending. "The local furniture places are going to love us."

He laughed roughly. "Yes, they are." He read over her list and nodded. "A couch, not easy chairs? Good choice."
