We all fall down

Carrie would remember the next few days as some of the best of her life. She was living with a man she was more comfortable with than she could have imagined, working together for a common goal. Even the visit with his kids went well. She gave him most of Saturday with just them, showing up at dinner time with pizza and cookies. They played board games and chased around her little house until it was time for him to take them back. Then it all went to hell.

They finally found evidence that Walker had met someone on one of his random seeming runs around the District. Before they could act on it, a series of small bombs took out three Metro buses as they approached the city center. A half dozen people were killed, twice that were injured. Had it been one bomb, it would have been bad enough, but three in a concert was particularly frightening for the city. It also put CIA on high alert. The work they'd been doing before was nothing compared to the sudden anger and frustration everyone showed. Plenty of people looked at Brody, and Carrie, as though they'd done something wrong. Brody should have come forward sooner. Carrie shouldn't have trusted him so much. Maybe if they'd come up for air this wouldn't have happened.

Carrie though all that and more, although she never really blamed Brody. At least, not any more than she blamed any of them for missing it. They'd messed up, not gotten to the answer fast enough. For her, everything else fell away. The work was everything and she spent as many hours as she was allowed at work. She had to be shoehorned out of the building to go home and rest, but when she was there she didn't sleep. She only ate when someone put food in front of her. This was the Carrie Brody had never seen, that her family worried about, that Carrie held on a tight leash.

She paced her dining platform, looking at the notes and schedules she had posted to her wall, sure she was still missing something crucial. She had music playing, the kind of jazz that normally settled her, but it wasn't doing shit and she could feel her skin start to crawl, but she had to work, had to figure out where they'd gone wrong.

That argument was compelling enough that he let her hands go. "Do it." He got his arms around her and went back to work on her shoulder. "Make me yourself. Help me remember."

Letting her go probably wasn't a good move on his part because he was going to wear these marks for a nice long time. She immediately raked her nails across his back and up onto his shoulders. Before the pain from that could possibly reach his brain, she did it again. He was hers and now it showed clearly.

It took a moment for the pain to register, then he moaned against her shoulder. "Holy fuck." He was also now rock hard inside her, bordering on exploding. Of course, then he arched right into her nails, offering himself up to her for more.

She swore loudly too, at the way he slammed into her. "Mine." She moved just as hard against him, her body pleading while her mouth just kept challenging him. "Fucking perfect inside me." She clawed at him again. "Mine. Get that? Mine."

It was like a talisman against anything going wrong. He was hers, no one else could touch him.

The tables had turned on him much faster than he expected and now it was as if she'd been holding all the cards all along. And he got it. Completely.

He just couldn't really do anything but moan and slam into her. He'd reached the inarticulate point.

She'd said her piece. The way he moved told her she could just enjoy now, letting the way he filled her push her to the release she'd wanted since he started undressing. He was getting his marks in, too, but no one would ever see them. Not unless he managed to get between her legs again in the next few days. "Love this. Need this."

He nodded his agreement before kissing her hard. He wanted her to come first, but he didn't think he could really hold out much longer. He whimpered roughly, his arms tightening around her as his pace increased. She had to let go first.

And there she was trying to hold out for him, trying to give him time because this was his second round. Then she heard that whimper and she knew exactly what it meant. Groaning thickly, she nodded against his shoulder and moved more strongly, rocking in just the way she needed. It only took her a moment to reach that perfect spot. She had just enough time to warn him by whispering his name, then she was done.

He was beyond relieved when she let go. It meant he didn't have to fight hood body anymore. He followed her only a moment later, groaning as he came.

She did her best to guide him onto his side so she wasn't squished, but she didn't really have the strength for it after their bodies were done with them. In the end she wrapped her arms around his neck and half sobbed. "Okay. Yeah. Fuck."

He could feel the trickle of blood on his back and he shivered before tucking in against her. "Yeah. That."

She groaned. "I think we managed some level of kink." If she'd realized she drew blood, she'd have sounded more certain about that. Instead, she caressed his hair lightly, the gesture surprisingly tender for how they'd gone at each other. "Rest now. Rest."

He tucked in close and groaned. "Yes. Rest. Stay with me."

She laughed softly. "Stuck until morning, remember?" She didn't sound the least bit upset about that. She was going to make him take a long bath and probably fuck his brains out one more time, just so she knew he was going into all this with the right attitude.

There was something to be said for reminding a soldier what he had to come home to.

"Right. Can't leave. Also, bleeding." He grinned at her. "Kinky."

"Oh fuck, really? Shit." She craned to see over his broad shoulders. When she caught sight of the ribbon of red on the pink, she groaned. "Guess so. Yay us?" She kissed his shoulder, then sagged back under him. "Wow."

Her wow made him laugh. "Guess I'm stuck with you for the next few days, anyway." There was so much teasing in his voice he was laughing before he was finished, despite the fact that it hurt.

She pinched his hip, then cuddled close. "I'll stay every minute I possibly can." She deeply regretted ever letting Walker see her. If not for that, she could have put herself firmly at his side for much more of this. "Pretty sure you're stuck with me anyone. No one else will put up with me. I don't let that get away easily."

He chuckled softly and nodded. "Fair enough." Glancing up at her, he stole a kiss, then closed his eyes. "I'm going to sleep now. Let the bleeding stop."

Still wincing slightly at having drawn blood, Carrie curled up close and closed her eyes. She didn't think she'd sleep much, but he felt good and she needed the rest. Of course, she was wrong and it only took a few moments before she drifted into a light sleep.

He didn't so much sleep as collapse in sated exhaustion. It was likely more restful then actual sleep would have been. He didn't move, staying pressed against her and mostly still as he rested. So the bleeding did stop as his back was able to clot some. It would likely scar, given that it would be constantly rubbed, but it certainly wasn't the only one he had.

When she woke, she stayed still for a long while, watching him. Everything about the moment was evocative of right when she'd got him back. They were stressed, exhausted, and in pain. It should have been the differences that stood out for her, but they didn't. This was who they were.

Finally, she groaned softly. "You're big."

He opened his eyes and scowled at her. "No. You're not big. Your fault, not mine." Still, he rolled off her with a groan as he felt the cuts in his back open again.

"I am petite. Tiny. Insignificant except for my mouth." She looked at him. "And you're too beat up for innuendo, so let that go." She gave him a little push so he was on his belly before she headed into the bathroom. "Don't move, I'm bringing back supplies."

After taking care of the basics, she brought back a warm, wet washcloth and a little tube of antibiotic cream Maggie insisted she carry with her. "Jesus, I'm a wild cat."

"No innuendo? That's no fun." He groaned again as he settled on his stomach. His eyes were closed when she came back, his arms down at his side.

At her comment, he laughed. "Yes, you are."
