This is spying. Isn't it FUN?

Brody attending the meeting Walker had so casually mentioned turned into a three ring circus. More than one person involved was convinced the whole thing was a wild goose chase, including Carrie occasionally. If she hadn't seen Walker as up close and personal as she had when they were first rescued, she could have been convinced. Maybe sending Brody to a regular meeting for returning vets who were also Muslim was just a kind of fuck you from a man who felt he'd been betrayed by a brother soldier. Or it could be something much more sinister. The problem was, no one could really figure out what that sinister was supposed to be. Carrie continued to maintain that Brody had no idea what was going on.
The questions Brody faced right after the meeting ranged from if he knew any of the people there already to how was he planning to overthrow the US government. When the questions headed that way a majority of the time, Carrie called foul and got Brody out of there. With full understanding of the irony involved, they had decided that the cover that would work best with his family was that he was working with other vets on integrating back into the world. Carrie would have felt a lot worse about that if it was just being used to cover up them fucking around. She still felt pretty shitty about it given how much stress it was putting on him.
They took their own cars back to her place. She got there before him and immediately opened a fresh bottle of wine, leaving a full glass on the counter for him, then she went upstairs to change into something decidedly less official looking.

Date: 2013-10-21 06:28 am (UTC)He was now fighting his own body. He wasn't ready to come. He hadn't gotten everything he wanted from her yet. He nipped her lip hard enough to draw blood.

Date: 2013-10-21 06:57 am (UTC)She started swearing again, but this time it wasn't at him. Instead it was a litany of intensity. She swore loudly when he pinched the skin on her wrists, then again when he hit a spot deep inside her. To her it sounded like passion and need, but in truth her voice still held that edge of panic and fear.

She kissed his shoulder again, then gently worked her way out from under him so she could curl into a ball. "Fucking hell. That was..." She didn't really have words.

Date: 2013-10-21 08:27 pm (UTC)As she stepped into the bedroom, there was a loud bang downstairs, the sound of her front door slamming open. Then came the footfalls on her stairs. In front was thankfully not Saul, but it was still bad enough. Carrie stepped into her bedroom doorway, blocking Virgil and two other men from entering. "Virgil, what the FUCK do you think you're doing?"

Date: 2013-10-21 08:35 pm (UTC)His training kicked in and he was surveying exits as he hit the floor on the other side of the bed. He pulled open the nightstand drawer and hit the jackpot. A small automatic lay in a holster. He pulled it out without thinking, then growled when he hit the trigger lock.
Of course, he couldn't shoot anyone. But he could still throw it, if he had to.

Date: 2013-10-21 08:49 pm (UTC)She made sure she was blocking the door completely, her slender frame the only thing between her colleagues and the man they thought was attacking her. Her lover. "Jesus, Virgil, your sex life must be pretty boring if you can't tell the difference between a little rough and assault."

Date: 2013-10-21 09:14 pm (UTC)"What? Do your jobs and get the hell out of here?" She pushed at Virgil's chest. "I do. Get out. And if my door is broken, I'm sending YOU a bill." Or Saul, which would also be fitting."
Virgil didn't look happy about it, but then there was very little he ever did look happy about. He muttered things about there being questions and paperwork, but he pushed the other man out of the way on his way back down the stairs. The other guy had the good sense not to even try to look into Carrie's bedroom before leaving.
She swore forcefully, then turned to face the naked, agitated and best of all, armed, Marine in her bedroom. "Wouldn't have done any good. Virgil's head's too hard." She glanced at the locked gun in his hands. "I've bounced harder things off it before."

Date: 2013-10-21 09:18 pm (UTC)That came in the next moment. "What the fuck was that, Carrie? Are they camped out in the fucking basement? Sitting in the backyard, just waiting to drag me away?" He looked around the bedroom with a glare.
"Are they watching you or me? Am I being spied on, Carrie? Are those bunch of assholes still fucking with me?"

Date: 2013-10-21 09:46 pm (UTC)Her voice softened. "Do you think I'd put you out there, in danger, and not make sure we had back up?" She grimaced. "Just because they are singularly useless..."

Date: 2013-10-21 09:53 pm (UTC)He stared at himself in the mirror for a moment and, scared of the face glaring back at him, did the only thing he could do. He cranked up the shower and climbed in. It was a completely irrational response, but it came back to when he was left rotting in his own stink in that hole in the dessert. He needed to try and get clean, to clear his head.

Date: 2013-10-21 10:08 pm (UTC)If things had gone right, she would have run a bath and taken them both into it, maybe with some jazz playing, and talked through everything they'd done and what it meant. She would have reassured him she was okay, that she'd wanted it too. With a groan, she decided that was exactly what she was going to try and have. No one would be able to hear them in the bathroom.
She knocked once on the bathroom door before slipping inside and closing the door behind her. "Nick? I--" She stopped, knowing how the words that were on the tip of her tongue sounded. "I need you. Can I come in?"
